Hampton, VA – August 7, 2014 - Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) remained one of the highest ranked charities in the country after receiving Charity Navigator’s fifth consecutive 4-star rating for its commitment to accountability and transparency and efficient financial performance.

“PAF shows consistent leadership in the quality and delivery of its charitable services,”” said Ken Berger, President/Chief Executive Officer of Charity Navigator, in a letter to PAF. “Charity Navigator’s mission is to provide the public with a credible evaluation of America’s charitable organizations and how they meet stated objectives.  Receiving a perfect four out of a possible four stars once again indicates that PAF adheres to good governance and other best practices that support and promote ethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.”

Charity Navigator, America's leading independent charity evaluator, works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the Financial Health and Accountability and Transparency of 6,000 of America's largest charities.

“This year’s Charity Navigator Four Star rating for PAF is a testament to our dedicated staff, patients and organizational partners, and indicative of the care with which we manage our financial resources and focus on excellent patient services,” said Dr. Alan Balch, CEO of PAF.   “Receiving this high ranking for performance five years in a row reflects the contribution of many individuals and we are grateful for their diligence and commitment to caring for thousands of patients seeking our services.”

Only four percent of all charities rated by Charity Navigator receive five consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that PAF outperforms 96% charities in America.  PAF also scored highest among charities performing similar types of work.  For the complete rating review and specific evaluation metrics, which includes details of PAF’s 67.81 out of 70 overall score and perfect 70 out of 70 score for Accountability & Transparency, please visit PAF's Charity Navigator Profile.

Dr. Balch added, “PAF shares this accomplishment with the numerous private and public funding sources that make this impressive national charity rating possible. We will continue to honor our contributors by serving America’s patients in need of our services now and in the future.  We take seriously the trust given to PAF from those entities that invest in the health and well-being of so many people challenged with navigating the healthcare system and we remain proud that the majority of every dollar spent goes directly to patient services.”
