TRICARE Basics
TRICARE is a health care program of the US Department of Defense Military Health System. TRICARE provides civilian health benefits for Uniformed Service members and their families, National Guard/Reserve members and their families, Survivors, Former spouses, Medal of Honor recipients and their families, and others registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
Benefits and plans vary depending on your beneficiary category, and each plan has its own costs based on the sponsor’s military status. Plans offer comprehensive coverage, and all plans meet or exceed the requirements for minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
