Hannah Hughes

Hanna Hughes was born and raised in Rochester, MN. She was an avid soccer player. During her sophomore year of high school, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, or bone cancer, and underwent 27 rounds of chemotherapy as well as the amputation of her right leg, hip, and half of her pelvis. Once recovered, she graduated with her high school classmates on time and attended college at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She double majored in Psychology and Communication. Upon graduation, she started working full time at a non-profit doing marketing and communications. This August, she will finish graduate school and obtain her masters in Strategic Communication Management through Concordia University. Outside of work, she volunteers on the pediatric floor at Mayo Clinic and plays for the USA Women’s Sled Hockey Team.

“The Patient Advocate Foundation scholarship afforded me the opportunity to attend the college of my choice and the school that was the best fit for me.”
